SUMMARY:Private Practice Townhall
DESCRIPTION:SCPS Private Practice Townhall\nTuesday\, March 21st at 7pm via Zoom\nSCPS is excited to present a private practice townhall\, focused on local and state advocacy. This is an opportunity for those in private practice\, outpatient psychiatry\, and any psychiatrist interested in learning how private practice psychiatry is being strengthen to attend and participate. \nSCPS recognizes that there are fundamental problems and special burdens on psychiatrists who have a private practice. Notably\, private practice psychiatrists lack of larger system for support and health systems administrative requirements and other biases that disproportionately burden private practice psychiatry. \nIn order to strengthen your private practice\, SCPS needs your help to identify key challenges. Participants will better understand unjustified impediments from panelists and speakers (i.e.\, regulations\, laws\, and other social and local impediments.) \nWith a coordinated effort\, SCPS will work to forge effective local advocacy for private practice. Together with other psychiatrists in private practice\, your participation will strengthen the spark needed to make effective change and will increase your understanding of the specific next best steps (i.e.\, bill support\, action papers\, media engagement\, collaboration with other organizations). Participants will actively help to direct the focus of SCPS’s energy on the most needed changes. \n(Draft) Townhall Agenda: \nTopic 1: A general primer on statewide advocacy and how it impacts private practice.  How are state and federal advocacy done at the State Level?\nPresenter: Emily Wood\, MD\, CA State Association of Psychiatrists (CSAP) Government Affairs Committee (GAC) Chair \nTopic 2: SCPS Private Practice Related Advocacy Priorities and Related Committee Activity.\nPresenters: Matthew Goldenberg\, DO\, SCPS PPC Chair\, Gillian Friedman\, MD\, and Robert Burchuk\, MD\, Access To  Care Committee Chairs \nTopic 3: Discussion about 2023 legislative session\, potential bills\, and current bills related to private practice.\nPresenters: Paul Yoder\, CSAP Lobbyist and Emily Wood\, MD\, CSAP GAC Chair \nTopic 4: What can we do.
