Family Separation

Family Separation

CPA policy may have found a home in AB 163 (Garcia, D – Bell Gardens) which would require local officials to meet with each unaccompanied undocumented minor to assess the well-being of the minor and to offer mental health services to the minor, if those minors are in or with California licensed foster facilities or families. CPA representatives met with the authors staff Thursday, January 31. Assemblymember Garcia’s staff are very interested in taking advantage of CPA expertise. Prior to this meeting Senate President Pro Tem Toni Atkin’s staff evaluated CPA’s background paper and policy recommendations and are supportive of moving them to a wider audience.
