PPAC Government Affairs Committee Chair, William Arroyo, MD, and I gave input to a recent California Medical Association specialty society meeting to discuss and formulate an AB 890 strategy for the Board of Registered Nursing. (The BRN is ramping up activities of it’s Nurse Practitioner Advisory Group). CMA is setting up a media training for the societies, Dr. Arroyo and other PPAC Board Members will participate. The PPAC GA Committee then met and developed a strategy for formulating input to the BRN NPAG. If you are a PPAC member we welcome your input. The key question to the BRN is this: What are you doing to assure the quality, safety, and effectiveness of NP response when presented with a mental disorder. I am looking for examples. Send input to Randall Hagar at rhagar@capsychiatrists.org by July 1.
